Twitter outage continues for some users, problem appears to be global
Twitter Support says it's fixing a server problem and hopes to get things running smoothly "soon." Reports of issues have come from users in regions including Africa, Asia, Europe and North America.
Having problems with Twitter? You're not alone. After a Friday night tweet in which it acknowledged that "tweets may not be loading for some of you," Twitter Support followed up on Saturday, saying that it's "fixing an issue with our servers to get things back to normal soon."
Down Detector showed a big spike in Twitter outages between about 5 and 6 p.m. PT on Friday, with few problems until a couple of less extreme bumps on Saturday morning. It's unclear how widespread the outages are, but it looks like a global issue: Reports of problems have come from the US, Africa, France, Romania, Sri Lanka and elsewhere, with some users saying they were logged out of their accounts. Other issues have reportedly included images not appearing and searches not working. It's also unclear what the exact cause is beyond the server issue mentioned by the social network's support team.
Twitter had no comment beyond the tweets from its Support account. We'll update this story as more information comes in.
