Troubleshooting Safari: Shortening bookmark names

We previously noted a delay in Safari startup caused by a component of an APE producing broken aliases. Now MacFixIt reader Gabriel Ciccone offers a solution for a slow-moving bookmarks menu:

"I do not have challenges starting or quitting Safari. However, my bookmarks menu can take a few seconds to pop up. Also, scrolling down can be slow like molasses. What I did to remedy this, is to shorten the title of long web site titles."
