Troubleshooting OS X 10.3.x: Agfa scanner fix?

Since upgrading to OS X 10.3, a number of users have found that their Agfa SCSI scanners no longer work. MacFixIt reader Al Mateczun reports that by downgrading the IOSCSIParallelFamily.kext (located in /System/Library/Extensions) to the version installed by OS X 10.2.6, 10.2.7, or 10.2.8 (IOSCSIParallelFamily.kext version 1.2.4), and then rebooting, his scanner now works perfectly.
