Troubleshooting Mac OS X 10.3.x: Stickies window issues

CNET staff
Reader Keith Mascheroni reports an issue with the Stickies note application under OS X 10.3 where window positions don't get preserved:

"I use Stickies a lot to organize tasks and notes. I line them up in columns of collapsed bars on my screen. The bug: you can?t have collapsed stickies any higher than about 96 pixels from the bottom of the menu bar. Anything above that gets rearranged, and stickies will not retain positions of collapsed windows -- it redistributes them on reboot or app quit/restart. It took a while to make sure this wasn?t something to do with my personal setup...it happened on a virgin 10.3.2 install to a brand new empty hard drive I just bought (a 7200 rpm laptop drive I?ve put in a firewire/usb case). To confirm, I went and checked it on the display machines at the Soho Apple store in NYC -- they show the same behavior."

We've confirmed this issue here at MacFixIt -- any collapsed windows that are within a certain distance from the menu bar will be moved below a "line of demarcation" the next time we launch Stickies.
