Troubleshooting Mac OS X 10.3.x: Kernel panics upon location change

CNET staff

Rob Tillyard reports that he has begun receiving kernel panics upon switching the "location" on his PowerBook G4:

"In the last few weeks I've been getting Kernel Panics when changing locations, this may correspond to some update (I'm on 10.3.2 with latest patches). I've tried deleting locations and starting again but it still does it.

"I was about to buy a FireWire disk to back everything up on and start again when I saw on Apple Discussions that someone else has already tried that and it didn't fix the problem.

"This is the dump: Sometimes the location did change, sometimes it doesn't (which is a real pain as you have to try again and risk another panic)."
