Triton PCS begins sales of Danger device

Cellular carrier Triton PCS announced Thursday that it has begun selling the SunCom hiptop device, which is based on the Danger hiptop reference design. Triton, a wireless services carrier for southeastern cities in the United States and a member of the AT&T Wireless network, is offering the SunCom hiptop with a monochrome screen for $249 after a $100 in rebates.

The hiptop is a wireless device that allows subscribers to access e-mail and browse the Web and comes with a built-in keyboard. The device runs on GSM/GPRS networks. The product is available in retail stores in Norfolk, Richmond and Fredericksburg, Virginia and starting in June it will be available in Charleston, Myrtle Beach, Beaufort and Hilton Head, South Carolina as well as Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Savannah, Georgia. Start-up Danger has also been working to bring a hiptop device with a color screen to market.
