Toshiba refreshes its gaming Satellite

When we reviewed a member of the Satellite P100 series earlier this year, we liked that it offered decent gaming performance for a relatively affordable price. Today Toshiba announced that it has sweetened the deal: the new P100-ST9612 updates the earlier model with an Nvidia GeForce Go 7900 GTX graphics card with 512MB VRAM. In addition, you'll get a slightly faster 2GHz Intel Core Duo processor; a 100GB hard drive spinning at a blazing 7,200rpm; 2GB of swift, 667MHz RAM; plus a sharper WSXGA+ display. One of three refreshed Satellite P100 laptops, the P100-ST9612 has the same lightweight case and multimedia features as its predecessor. And though this high-end configuration is priced at $2,899 (still relatively affordable for a gaming laptop), a config with the same graphics card and a 1.8GHz processor and an 80GB, 5,400rpm hard drive can still be had for $1,999. Will its gaming performance be worthy of your next LAN party? We're expecting a review unit in the labs soon, so stay tuned for performance results.
