At CES 2014, Toshiba has shown off a super-sized Chromebook that's still only 2cm thick and weighs just 1.5kg.

Small screen size is one of the criticisms occasionally leveled at Chromebooks — often not unfairly, given their 11-inch displays.

Toshiba hopes to change that, using CES to launch a new Chromebook that sports a 13.3-inch screen.

The Toshiba Chromebook uses a Haswell-based Celeron processor, with 2GB RAM, 16GB of storage and nine hours of battery life.

Toshiba says that it's redesigned the big-screen Chromebook from the ground up, keeping a slim 2.02-centimetre profile and an overall weight of just 1.5 kilograms.

There's no call on Australian availability or pricing, but we'll update when Toshiba Australia reveals more details. In the US, it'll be available in February and cost US$279.
