Technically Incorrect offers a slightly twisted take on the tech that's taken over our lives.
There was no laughter here. Truly there wasn't.
Scrolling down my Twitter feed on Wednesday, I saw a peculiar form of edification.
An image of a very large burger -- a Big Mac, it seemed -- was accompanied by these words: "Lowdown: Dehydrated Vagina strikes again in Vagisil spot."
The tweet was from advertising bible AdAge. And I confess to having paused for much thought. Was this an image from the ad? Why would this image be in the ad? Was this a suggestion that Big Macs have certain textural issues?
It conjured so much twisted thought that I had to lie down and wonder. As did several other Twitter inhabitants.
"In ten minutes, I look forward to a blog link about Big Macs, accompanied by a picture of a vagina," mused Andrew Panos.
The next thing I did was look at the Vagisil ad and though it does include lines like "mine is like sandpaper," there is no image of a Big Mac to make its point.
AdAge didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. However, the publication offered this follow-up tweet: "We realize the tweet about the Vagisil ad pulled in the wrong image. Enjoy the laugh at our expense."
Who would be the first to cast a stone when they themselves have perpetrated something they might regret online?
I won't. I've done, said and tweeted things that afterward made me don sackcloth, ashes and a dunce's hat.
To Adage's credit, the tweet still lives. Sometimes, it's worth confronting our lesser moments. From these we can only rise to survive another day.
