Fifty Shades of Sucky: Razzies unleash vengeance on 2015's worst films

Chances are you saw at least one movie in 2015 that was so bad you wished someone from the movie theater, the movie's production company or just the movie itself would have given you a refund for your ticket.

If you're still holding on to that dream, let it go. It ain't gonna happen. The chances are better that the Criterion Collection will release a special edition of "Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot" on DVD and Blu-ray.

The best revenge you can hope for is that it will pick up a win at the 36th Annual Golden Raspberry Awards, the awards show where the worst of Hollywood's biggest offerings get the dishonors they deserve the day before the Academy Award nominees are announced. The organizers of this year's awards ceremony released the nominee list on The Razzies' official YouTube channel Wednesday and chances are the names and titles that made the best of the worst in film may not surprise you.

Four of the five films nominated for Worst Picture received the most nominations with a total of six nods each including "Fifty Shades of Grey," the Wachowskis' "Jupiter Ascending," the Kevin James film "Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2" and (you know you saw this one coming) Adam Sandler's "Pixels." The widely panned reboot of Marvel Comics' "Fantastic Four" was the fifth film in the Worst Picture category and finished second in the nomination total race with five "Worst" nods.

Actor Kevin James picked up the most nominations for an actor or actress this year with three nods. He's up for worst actor for the title role in "Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2," worst supporting actor for the role of President Cooper in "Pixels" and worst screen combo for "Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2" with "either his Segue or his glued-on moustache," according to the list of nominations.

Sandler only picked up two individual nominations this year for Worst Actor in "Pixels" and the box-office flop "The Cobbler." However, he still holds the record for receiving the most Razzie nominations in a single year. Sandler earned that dubious record in 2012 when his film "Jack and Jill" received 11 nominations and took home 10 awards, according to the Razzie Awards' website.

The Razzie Awards also hold a special "Redeemer" achievement award for film stars and filmmakers who pulled themselves out of the repulsive puddle of their previous purveyance of putrid productions. Four familiar names made the list of nominees for this year's Redeemer Award including Elizabeth Banks for her directing work on "Pitch Perfect 2," Will Smith for going from the 2013 bomb "After Earth" to the hard-hitting (no pun intended) drama "Concussion," Sylvester Stallone for going from an "all-time Razzie champ" to his critically applauded return to the role of Rocky Balboa in "Creed" and director M. Night Shyamalan for making "The Visit" after making, well, pretty much everything he's ever done since "The Village."
