In response to the July 31 article "Red alert: The worm returns":
The idea of a Chinese government official implying that the Code Red worm couldn't have been the work of a Chinese hacker is completely ludicrous. Let's take for instance the facts: Nobody knows where it originated. Nobody knows what machines it attacked first. And for all we know, the message itself is probably saying that the worm found its way into a computer, was hacked, and therefore a group of Chinese individuals are claiming credit for it.
I am equally discontented with the American government, since they were ready to blame individuals in China for this incident. Since nobody knows the origin of this worm, it stands to reason that we have no room to make accusations.
Then again, we all could be wrong and it could be the work of some American 12-year-old kid who has a hateful relationship with a Chinese person. And these are the people that are in a high political office in either country? Give me a break...
