Google, Amazon, Facebook, Microsoft and IBM are coming together to make robots brainier.

The companies' new nonprofit, named the Partnership on Artificial Intelligence to Benefit People and Society, points to how big AI has become to these tech heavyweights as they work to add more smarts to their gadgets and software. But it also shows how AI is such a big undertaking that no one company can develop the technology on its own.

We also talk about Samsung's reportedly defective washing machines and Tinder's new feature to help folks get more views of their profiles -- for a price.
