The 404 at CES 2012: Where we have the power (podcast)

LAS VEGAS--For our last live episode from CES, we're joined by Sony's John Koller who shows us the U.S. version of the PlayStation Vita and President of CBS Interactive Jim Lanzone...fingers crossed that we still have jobs after this!

First we sit down with Sony's Director of Hardware Marketing John Koller for a first glimpse at the American version of the PlayStation Vita mobile gaming device. Last year Jeff got the chance to look at a preview of the Japanese-only model, and the hardware is truly meant for the hard-core gamer.

Replete with dual-control pads, front and back touch panels, gyroscopic sensors, and front- and rear-facing cameras, John gives us an up-close tour of what the Vita offers that touch-screen gaming simply doesn't: an immersive, tactile experience.

John also tells us more about the games that will coincide with the U.S. hardware launch on February 22, 2011, but we have to grill him a bit about the lack of memory card included in the final shipping box--you'll have to buy one separately along with the device, as it requires a memory card to play. Tune in to the first of three segments on today's episode to hear the full review.

The second period is all about today's news from the CES show floor, and after we chat about adult stars walking around CES and dropping a bowling ball on Wilson's iPad, we're anxious to get CBSi President and Head Honeybadger Jim Lanzone up onstage to help us congratulate this year's Best Of CES winners!

We'll run through a couple of our favorite picks, and get the scoop from Jim about what kinds of technologies he thinks will be hot in 2012. Since Jim comes from a startup background, we'll also talk about the larger start-up presence here at CES out at Eureka Park in a few rooms at the Venetian Hotel.

Finally, Jim tells us what we can expect from CBS programming in the following year in terms of Web video, and since nobody leaves The 404 empty handed, we'll present Jim with a gift that we hope he'll enjoy.
