Telemate.Net soars in Cisco deal

Telemate.Net Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: TMNT) rose 45 percent Monday after saying its technology is included in a new voice-over-IP product from Cisco Systems (Nasdaq: CSCO).

Shares in Telemate.net, which makes software for monitoring Internet and voice networks, were up 4 13/16 to 15 9/16. Cisco shares were down 1/2 to 136 15/16.

CiscoWorks2000 Voice Manager is a Web-based network management application for voice-over-IP networks. Telemate.Net's contribution helps Cisco's customers with usage management and reporting capabilities.

Telemate.Net's enterprise solution will be resold by Cisco. That product handles provide reporting for other Cisco products such as PIX Firewall, IOS Firewall and NetRanger Intrusion Detection.

Cisco will handle customer support for the products. Telemate.Net will provide Cisco with onsite support for software troubleshooting and maintenance.

Telemate.Net also targets voice over frame relay (VoFR), and voice over ATM (VoATM) markets.
