Tech luminaries dominate Time's 100 Most Influential People
Each year, the publication releases its list of the most influential people in the world, and once again, technology bigwigs are among the pack leaders.
Technology luminaries have once again found a home in Time's "100 Most Influential People In the World" series.
The list, which this year includes everyone from artist Jay-Z to Pope Francis, is filled with technology big shots including Jens Bergensten and Markus Persson, the creators of wildly popular PC title Minecraft; Perry Chen, CEO and co-founder of Kickstarter; and Google Ideas director Jared Cohen.
Technology leaders have always been staples on the Most Influential list, and such giants as Steve Jobs have made their way into the listing. This year's selection, however, appears to be a bit broader, and includes several folks some might not expect, including Sam Yagan of Match and OKCupid, and even Netflix's chief content officer, Ted Sarandos.
Not surprisingly, Marissa Mayer, Yahoo's new CEO and arguably the first person in quite awhile to give the company some hope, made the list. Sheryl Sandberg, who as COO of Facebook, has become a key player in the company's growth and success, is also on the list.
One other notable techie: Kevin Systrom, co-founder and CEO of Instagram.
