Astra fits a color-coded, hub-and-spoke map of a Web site on one screen. The map displays internal and external links, as well as static and dynamic pages. The map view can also focus on sections of a site or zoom in on a single page, according to the company.
To track user navigation of a site, Astra will compile traffic data and match that with corresponding pages and links. The program's Link Doctor tool identifies broken links by marking them red, while the Link Analyzer lets Webmasters preview the potential effects of changes to a site before implementing them.
To encourage third-party and corporate customer development of plug-ins for Astra, Mercury Interactive is releasing an API that supports the Java, C++, and Visual Basic languages.
A free version of Astra will be available on the company's Web site starting Tuesday. The final version is expected to ship in December for $495.
