Even if you didn't care much about webcams a year ago, you probably do now. We spend so much time in virtual meetings these days that looking good in those Hollywood Squares-style web conference windows is more important than ever. Thankfully, it's easy to upgrade from the junky webcam built into your laptop; just plug a better one into a USB port. Most webcams muster little more than HD resolution, but Depstech sells a 4K model for $70. And right now, you can get that Depstech 4K webcam for just $49 when you apply the seasonally appropriate promo code MOM30 at checkout -- that's 30% off and positions this among the least expensive 4K webcams right now.

The Depstech 4K webcam uses a Sony 1/3-inch CMOS sensor to capture 4K video (3,840x2,160 pixels) at 30 frames per second. That's significant, because some 4K webcams drop down to 15fps at their highest resolution.

The camera applies autofocus and low-light correction as well. It also includes a pair of microphones that apply noise reduction filtering for improved sound quality. The camera is mounted on a swivel so you can easily tweak where it points -- up and down, right and left. If privacy is a concern, you'll appreciate that the webcam has a built-in sliding shutter so you can cover the lens when you're not broadcasting.

It's compatible with Windows 7, 8 and 10 as well as MacOS, Android and Linux.
