Take note: Sony launches new voice recorders

Practical stocking stuffers, Sony's two new tiny digital note takers are colourful and easy to use.

Sony UX70

If there's a student, stenographer, biographer or (ahem) journalist on your Christmas list, you may want to get them something to make their life a bit easier.

To that end, Sony has released two new digital note takers, the UX70 and UX80. Both are souped up USB sticks that allow you to drag and drop the audio MP3 files you've recorded directly from the device on to either a PC or Mac. They can also be used to transport and store other types of files like text documents, spreadsheets and presentations.

The digital note takers are powered by a single AAA battery and have an external microphone jack.

The AU$249 UX70 has a 1GB capacity and is available in silver and pink. For an extra $100, the big brother AU$349 UX80 has a 2GB capacity and comes in the more manly black or red.
