T-Mobile promises to unveil 'real piece of work' at March 18 event

The "Uncarrier" sends out invites to an event in New York, but it plays the tease and doesn't provide any details.

T-Mobile on Friday sent out invites to a mysterious New York event, saying cryptically "This one's a real piece of work."

The invite-only press event is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Wednesday, March 18 at Manhattan's Spring Studios.

T-Mobile, which recently made the case that it's the nation's third-largest wireless carrier by subscriber base, is riding a strong fourth-quarter earnings report. That included the addition of 2.3 million net new customers in the quarter and, more importantly, 1.3 million customers who pay at the end of the month. Such "postpaid" customers tend to spend more and stay with the carrier longer.

It's not clear what the company might reveal at the event. The invitation makes no mention of T-Mobile's "Uncarrier" promotional campaign, which it has said would carry into 2015.
