Sybase unveils new software

Sybase on Tuesday announced new software and tools designed to help it better compete against rivals in the lucrative e-business infrastructure software market. Sybase unveiled its Business Process Integrator Suite, which features both integration and "business process" software. Integration software enables companies to link their business software together so they can communicate. Business process software allows companies to choreograph how an e-commerce site functions and how information is passed through computing systems to complete a transaction. Sybase announced security enhancements to its latest Enterprise Portal, software that lets businesses create portal Web sites for employees, customers and partners. Sybase, which makes databases, has also updated its PowerDesigner software development tool with new features that make it easier for programmers to design software. The "modeling" tool lets developers create graphic representations of software code. The new products will be released during the first quarter.
