Sun wins European supercomputer project

Sun Microsystems announced that one of the largest technical universities in Europe has selected Sun Fire 6800 servers running the Solaris operating system for a major supercomputing project. The University of Technology at Aachen, Germany, will use the system for large computational fluid dynamics simulations and other applications. The system will have a capacity of 2.3 trillion calculations per second when completed next year.
