Sun revamps developer sites

Sun Microsystems on Tuesday announced changes to its developer outreach program, including a consolidation of its developer Web sites. The expanded Sun Developer Network will be a point on the Web to gather information for developers of Java and the Solaris developer community. The site will feature more sophisticated features for tracking information, such as alerts on forums, and it will have an improved search capability. Sun also extended the amount of content available to developers outside the United States, with localized content for Java developers in China and India.

Sun has been boosting its developer outreach efforts in an attempt to stimulate sales of its Java server software and hardware. Sun will seek to tie the forthcoming version of Java Studio Creator developer tool, due around the middle of the year, to online resources, said Sanjay Sarathy, Sun's director of developer programs.
