Pet-lovers and sci-fans alike might be happy to learn that even Darth Vader's Stormtroopers miss their cats, especially when they're far, far away from home working hard protecting the Death Star.

In the short animated film "I Miss You" by Stockholm-based artist Henrik Tomenius of Twistedspeedo, we see a cat-like creature happily playing with a mysterious laser light in its home.

The curious pet rushes to the window and holds its paw up to wave hello at its distant master, a Stormtrooper stationed on the Death Star. I'm not sure how Vader would react to a 'trooper using the firepower of a fully armed and operational battle station to entertain an animal rather than obliterate planets. He might be better off with a Petcube , the gadget that lets you watch your pets and play with them over the Internet.

"I Miss You" is "a movie about missing a loved one, and what you'll do to feel that you are close even though you are far, far away," Tomenius wrote in the video description.

It's only a 40-second animation, but we bet your heartstrings will be tugged, even for a servant of the dark side (and his owner).
