Moviegoers will finally get a chance to see how Ashton Kutcher fares as Steve Jobs when the "Jobs" biopic opens on Friday, August 16.

The movie's distributor, Open Road Films, announced the new release date on Wednesday, according to Deadline Hollywood. The film was initially scheduled for a nationwide release on April 19 but was reportedly pushed back for marketing reasons.

"Jobs" portrays the early life and career of the late Apple leader, traveling from 1971 through 2001 to follow his up-and-down path from college dropout to CEO of the company he co-created.

With Kutcher playing the title role, the film also features Josh Gad as Steve Wozniak, Matthew Modine as John Sculley, and Dermot Mulroney as Mike Markkula. Ahna O'Reilly appears as Chris-Ann Brennan, Jobs girlfriend and the mother of his daughter Lisa, while Annika Bertea portrays Lisa. "Jobs" was directed by Joshua Stern and written by Matthew Whiteley.

The independent film initially debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in January, where it garnered mixed reviews. Woz himself panned at least one of the scenes in the movie as inaccurate saying: "Our relationship was so different than what was portrayed. I'm embarrassed but if the movie is fun and entertaining, all the better."

CNET's review rated the film as overall flat and shallow.
