So here's Zoe Saldana and Simon Pegg from "Star Trek," John Cho, Paul Rudd, Keanu Reeves and that well-known performer Stephen Hawking all dedicating themselves to a scientific quest: finding Pegg's cat.
It's a big problem. The cat has disappeared into the Quantum realm. Yes, where all of us have been most of the year.
This short film -- created jointly by Caltech, Cinestar and Trouper Productions -- is a follow-up to last year's opus that featured Hawking losing to Paul Rudd at chess.
This one's a little more complex.
Pegg's cat is called Schrödinger, as in Austrian physicist Erwin Schrödinger, which automatically makes this tale both lively and buried in scientific minutiae. Still, the purpose of it all, the makers told me, is "to stimulate interest and promote education in the emerging scientific field of quantum information theory and quantum computing."
For some, the biggest delight might be to hear Hawking utter the line: "OMG. You are such a nerd!"
Others, though, will immediately bury themselves in the riddle and see their future leaping into another dimension.
