Stephen Colbert tests out crappy robots on 'The Late Show'

Robotics video-blogger Simone Giertz gives Colbert a demo of her robots, which aren't really good at doing anything.

While some inventors are known for their brilliance in the field of robotics, another kind of inventor -- YouTuber Simone Giertz -- has made a career out of making embarrassingly bad robots.

"The Late Show" host Stephen Colbert brought Giertz to his program Friday for a demo of her inefficient robots that brush teeth, apply lipstick, applaud and chop veggies. Colbert tested the robots with hilarious results on the segment, which was posted Saturday on YouTube. (Disclosure: "The Late Show" runs on CBS, parent company of CNET.)

"That is a thing of nightmares," Colbert said of the vegetable-chopping robot.

In addition to showing off her robotic creations to Colbert, Giertz posted a video Monday of her latest badly performing robot. This time it's a dog inspired by YouTuber Jenna Marbles' drone-chasing dog. The robot dog is made using a plush toy, metal legs and four servo motors.

Giertz has previously posted videos showcasing her robots that do a horrible job making sandwiches, serving cereal for breakfast, cutting hair and waking her up.
