Standards: Calling a spade a spade

A News.com reader writes that someone needs to call the World Wide Web Consortium on its standards practices.

Standards: Calling a spade a spade

In response to the Oct. 5 column by Charles Cooper, "Standards--with a price tag":

I couldn't agree more, and I am glad you rose to the occasion and wrote an editorial that may make some of your sponsors a bit angry. CNET's editorials have gotten better over time. CNET and TheRegister.co.uk are some of the only commercial computer-industry news sources that may be willing to call a spade a spade, while many of your competitors are calling a spade various much kinder words. Somebody needs to call the W3C on this one.
