Sprint ceases Evo 4G update almost immediately
Rumored last week, a minor update started rolling out to EVO 4G handsets on Monday. Unfortunately, reports of issues quickly shelved the release almost as fast as it began.

Reports started coming in almost immediately that handsets were acting up after the patch was installed. It's not known just how many devices were affected by the update, but it was enough to get the attention of Sprint and HTC. Sprint promised to look into the matter before pushing out further updates, and the company issued the following statement:
While the vast majority of consumers successfully downloaded and installed the most recent HTC Evo 4G software update, we have received a handful of reports from customers having some issues with the update. In light of this, HTC and Sprint have decided to temporarily halt distribution of this software release until we can investigate further. We expect to be able to resume software updates shortly.
Hopefully Sprint is able to fix the "handful" of phones affected by the update. The phone is currently listed as out of stock on the Sprint Web site, which tells me there aren't very many to play around with. It could be an agonizingly long time before customers see a replacement should the carrier have no other alternative.
