Sprint on Monday launched its second wave of ads with Paul Marcarelli, the actor who became the carrier's pitchman last month after a decade of being Verizon's "Test Man" in its "Can you hear me now?" campaign.
Similar to the first commercials, the new TV spots continue to portray Sprint as a more affordable alternative to rivals AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon while offering a similar quality of service. More specifically, the message suggests Sprint's network reliability is within 1 percent of Verizon's while the carrier's plans can be up to 50 percent cheaper than ones offered by its big competitors.
The second wave includes two ads. The first is "Powerslide," depicting a potential customer making a risky move to park her car to catch a deal from Sprint. The second is "Paul Caught 'Em," showing the actor presumably playing wildly popular mobile game Pokemon Go.
The original Sprint commercial with Marcarelli first aired last month and has been viewed more than 8 million times on YouTube.
CEO Marcelo Claure, following the company's quarterly earnings report Monday, hinted the carrier might raise rates before the next iPhone comes out.
