Sony shows off low-light footage from A7s

Sony has demonstrated how its new A7s camera can see in the dark with this sample video.
The A7s was announced to coincide with last week's National Association of Broadcasters show. The camera is based around the previous A7 full-frame interchangeable lens cameras, but comes with a lower-resolution 12-megapixel sensor that's capable of 4K video recording with an external hard drive attached.
One of the features of the new camera is its incredible low-light sensitivity. The ISO range is expandable up to 409,600 which is on par with Nikon's recently announced professional-grade SLR, the D4s. To help show off some of the low-light capabilities of the A7s, Sony has put together this video that increases the sensitivity all the way up to the expandable maximum.
The video was shot with the 16-35mm f/2.8 at 1/50 second throughout the sensitivity range. Watch as the camera turns almost pitch black into a completely visible scene as the sensitivity climbs from ISO 1600 up to ISO 409,600. Naturally, at this level the noise is very noticeable, but the footage is definitely watchable.
