Sony has released an identification device that stores and matches fingerprints inside it, not on the PC or the Internet. The FIU-710, which is the size of a credit card and is dubbed the Puppy, is priced at $299. The fingerprint ID logs on to the owner's PC, replaces passwords and secures folders on Windows 98, 98 Second Edition, Me and 2000 systems. The FIU-710, which uses a USB connection, comes bundled with I/O Software's SecureSuite program.
