As promised last week, Sony has issued a fix for the PlayStation 3 console-breaking 4.45 firmware update from last week.

People who either haven't downloaded the 4.45 patch or didn't experience any issues from it will be able to install the 4.46 firmware in the normal fashion.

If you are someone who's had issues with 4.45, Sony has released some detailed instructions on how to install the patch on a damaged console.

Either way, the good news is that it's safe to turn on your PS3 once more.

The 4.45 system update caused considerable problems for many users who downloaded the firmware, effectively "bricking" or blocking the console from being used.
