Sony Ericsson signs up handwriting tool

Handwriting recognition software company Communication Intelligence said Wednesday that handset maker Sony Ericsson is using CIC's Jot software in its P800 multimedia smartphone. The announcement is the second major deal in the last month for the Redwood Shores, Calif.-based CIC. The company recently signed an agreement with PalmSource to embed its Jot software in the current and future versions of the Palm operating system.

Sony Ericsson is a joint venture of Ericsson and Sony, which was established in 2001. The joint venture recently received commitments for $326 million in additional funding from its parent companies.
