Sony's finally delivering an essential full-frame lens that it's been missing. A 50mm f2.8 macro is a staple for when you need close focus plus a 1:1 view of the subject, for example, in product photography. The maximum aperture of f2.8 keeps the price reasonable, in this case $500 (directly converted, about £380 and AU$660).
The lens has many of the same design and feature aspects as the FE 90mm f2.8 Macro G OSS, one of my favorite Sony full-frame lenses. These include dust and moisture resistance and focus-range limiter and focus-mode switches plus a focus-hold button. It can focus just under 2 inches/50mm from the front of the lens.
It will be available by the end of September 2016.
