Garage Entertainment is the largest local distributor of action-sports films. The deal with Sony will make its back catalogue available for streaming on any Sony Blu-ray player and Bravia smart TV.

The channel will feature films, documentaries and TV series starring the likes of Kelly Slater, Shaun White, Travis Pastrana, Tony Hawk and many more.

Sony's group manager for Networked Services and Technology, Paul Colley, also cautiously hinted at user-generated content, saying that the availability of action cameras and similar devices means that "customers may soon be producing their own films that appear on the channel, so watch this space".

The Garage Channel will be available via three-, six- or 12-month subscriptions at AU$19.99, AU$39.99, AU$69.99, respectively, with an ongoing monthly subscription of AU$8.50 per month.
