Sonicblue announced on Monday that L. Gregory Ballard had been appointed chief executive and that Marcus Smith had been named chief financial officer of the consumer-electronics maker. Both Ballard, formerly the company's top marketing executive, and Smith have been serving in those roles on an interim basis. Ballard was also appointed to the board of directors. Ballard joined Sonicblue in April 2002, and Smith joined in August of 2001 as part of the company's acquisition of ReplayTV.

Santa Clara, Calif.-based Sonicblue has gone through several management changes this year, including the firing of chairman and CEO Ken Potashner and the departure of its former Chief Operating Officer John Todd and former CFO David Sugishita.
