SmartDisk stores USB 2.0 hard drives

SmartDisk announced Thursday that its latest FireLite hard drives will be available in mid-June. The new drives will support Universal Serial Bus 2.0 and 1.1. The drives measure 3.25 inches wide, 5 inches deep and 0.75 inches tall, and weigh 6 ounces. There will be three versions of the drive, the $200 20GB model, the $260 30GB model and the $310 40GB model. USB 1.1 enables devices to transfer data at 12mbps, while USB 2.0 boosts the transfer rate to up to 480mbps.
