SmartDisk, which makes portable, network and multimedia storage products, said it has acquired Zio Corporation for an undisclosed amount. San Jose, Calif.-based Zio makes digital-media readers, as well as video editing and mobile-phone products.

Zio's products include the Dazzle, CameraMate and FoneMate brands. SmartDisk products are highlighted by its FireLite, FireFly and CrossFire family of portable hard drives. Plans call for Zio to consolidate its U.S. offices and operations into the SmartDisk headquarters in Fort Myers, Fla. Key management personnel are expected to remain at Zio to help with the transition, SmartDisk said.
