Silliest 'Force Awakens' poster stars cheap Star Wars costumes

The "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" poster gets a hilariously cheesy remake using stock photos of costume models from a discount party supply chain.

Lightsabers glow, the glowering presence of Kylo Ren haunts the background and most of our favorite old-school characters make appearances, looking ready to kick space butt.

Reddit user eleetpancake saw this grandiose poster and decided it needed a makeover. A makeover using stock photos of costume models from discount party supply chain Party City dressed in cheap Star Wars tie-in duds. It took a day of tinkering to expunge the original images of Rey, Chewbacca, Han Solo and X-wing fighters and replace them with generic-looking models and toys.

The Millennium Falcon is replaced with a picture of a Millennium Falcon drone with four rotors. A Death Star soccer ball looms in the back. There's a baby sporting an R2-D2 outfit and rugged Han Solo is replaced with a fresh-faced guy in a white shirt with a black vest. Toy TIE Fighters blast out tiny green Nerf darts.

The awful C-3PO and Chewbacca costumes win the prize for being the most egregious visual representations of beloved characters. Eleetpancake told CNET's Crave blog that the most challenging part of designing the new poster was completing "all the fine detailing like the orange and blue tones."

Keen-eyed viewers will notice an interloper from another sci-fi universe tucked away into the poster. No spoilers. You'll have to find it yourself. Here's a hint: it's green and it's not Yoda.

Another fan previously took a shot at "improving" the official poster by slathering it with Jar Jar Binks imagery, creating a majestic beast of a work of visual art and horrifying most Star Wars fans in the process.

Eleetpancake's entertainingly awful poster comes out of a deep love of the franchise. "I already got my tickets for the first day showing and ransacked some boxes of my dad's old childhood toys to find some old Kenner Star Wars figures. My hype meter is working at max capacity," the Redditor said.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" opens in theaters in Europe and Australia on December 17 and in the US on December 18.
