SightSound showcases films

Online video distributor SightSound Technologies says it will release 20 new films for download beginning Friday. The films include, "Eye of the Beholder" with Ashley Judd and Ewan McGregor, "Drowning Mona" with Bette Midler and Danny DeVito, and six new episodes of "South Park." SightSound said that this summer it will release new titles every week, which people can download from its Web site. The films cost $3.95 for a two-day rental or $14.95 for a two-year ownership, according to the company. The "South Park" episodes will cost $2.50 for a two-day rental or $4.95 to purchase. The Pennsylvania-based company said it has been downloading movies to consumers for more than two years. Last year, the company reached an agreement with Miramax Films to distribute 12 films on the Internet. It also has said it will try to sell videos using Gnutella's file-sharing software.
