Siebel, Cingular forge wireless pact

Siebel Systems, which builds software that connects businesses to their customers over the Web and manages their communication, signed a deal with Cingular Wireless to allow the software company's e-business applications to run on devices connected to Cingular's wireless network. Under terms of the agreement, Cingular will enable Siebel sales, marketing, and customer service applications to run on its network, the companies said in a joint statement. Customers will be able to update sales deals, review accounts, access calendar and contact lists, order parts, and respond to service requests.
