Texas Instruments, Anam Industrial of Korea, and Amkor Electronics in Westchester, Pennsylvania, announced a long-term agreement regarding the production of semiconductor wafers. Anam and Amkor will build a new wafer fabrication facility in Korea, with financing provided by Anam and technical assistance from TI. TI will retain the right to purchase up to 70 percent of the 15,000 to 25,000 200mm wafers produced each month. Anam will sell remaining output on the world market.
