Short Take: WorldNet rolls out Rockwell 56-kbps access technology

AT&T WorldNet has begun to offer Rockwell's K56flex modem access technology in 11 cities. AT&T plans to extend it to 20 more cities by the end of the year, and will roll out service to all its customers by June 1998. The ISP began deploying 3Com?s competing X2 technology last month. The two 56-kbps modem technologies are still incompatible, but an international standard is expected soon.
