Short Take: VeriFone CEO to retire

Hatim Tyabji, chief executive officer of VeriFone, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hewlett-Packard since its early 1997 acquisition, will retire at the end of 1998. Tyabji will remain active through the end of the year and will work with William Russell, vice president and general manager of HP's Enterprise Systems Group, to pick his successor. HP expects the selection process to take several months.
