Short Take: Vantive to miss expectations

Office automation software developer Vantive said revenues for its second quarter would range between $35.5 million and $37.5 million, below earlier forecasts. It estimated its earnings would come in between 2 cents and 4 cents per share. Based in Santa Clara, California, Vantive said its revenue shortfall was due to lower-than-anticipated sales in North America. The company will release final figures for the quarter on July 23.
