Short Take: US West reaches 50,000 DSL subscribers

US West's high-speed Internet efforts have reached the 50,000 customer milestone, the company said. The Baby Bell, which agreed to merge with Qwest Communications, has consistently been one of the fastest local phone companies in rolling out digital subscriber line (DSL) technology. It plans to extend its rollouts to 25 cities outside of its 14-state home region after completing the Qwest merger.
