Short Take: SurfWatch Software technology nears patent approval

Surfwatch Software, a subsidiary of Internet software firm Spyglass, has received notification from the U.S. Patent Office that a pending patent on its Internet filtering software is near approval. Surfwatch software allows users to block access to online gambling and sites containing hate speech, as well as to sites that deal with drugs, alcohol, or tobacco.
