Short Take: Sun's chip head steps down

Chet Silvestri, president of the microprocessor division of Sun Microsystems, has left the company, the latest development in an ongoing reorganization that began in January. Silvestri will be replaced by Mel Friedman, vice president of worldwide operations for Sun Microsystems. Friedman will report to Ed Zander, who earlier this year became Sun's COO. Late last month, Masood Jabbar became president of Sun following Zander's promotion.
