Short Take: Study says wireless Net to drive data demand

The desire for mobile Internet access will drive demand for wireless data services, according to a new study by Cahners In-Stat Group. The market research firm found that the roughly 50 million mobile users in the nation spend about 20 percent of their time away from their desks, increasing demand for wireless data services. An earlier study forecast the wireless data market will increase to 25 million subscribers by 2003, up from 1.7 million this year.
