Short Take: Start-up Cbeyond gets $141 million

Developer of next-generation broadband IP services Cbeyond Communications has received a $141 million investment. The start-up plans to provide local and long-distance voice services, high-speed Internet access and other data applications to small and medium-sized businesses later this year across 25 U.S. cities. Madison Dearborn Capital Partners, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, Battery Ventures, VantagePoint Venture Partners and Cbeyond founders participated in today's investment.
